Department chief of the executive office Israfil Karimov told APA that there were 151 houses on the landslide site. He said 144 families were transferred from the site under the decision of the commission set up by the Cabinet of Ministers when landslide occurred in 2000. Karimov said the other families were still living in that territory, and it was planned to transfer them.
“But the amount of the compensation and the prices in the housing market differ from one another. Sabayel district executive office appealed to Baku Mayor’s Office and the Cabinet of Ministers several times. Under the instruction of Sabayel district executive office, Sabayel Housing Department is inventorying 151 houses. The aim is to assess the house,” he said.

Israfil Karimov said he did not know on what principles the compensation would be paid.
“The Cabinet of Ministers will determine it. Compensation will be paid either per person or per square meter,” he said.

Karimov also added that there were attempts to build illegal houses on the landslide site since 2000, but executive office prevented such attempts.
