Prisoner goes on 12-day hunger strike in Ganja

Ganja. Nazakat Mashadialigizi-APA. Prisoner Rafig Rzayev goes on 12-day hunger strike in detention facility #2 in Ganja, prisoner’s sister Namiga Rzayeva told APA western bureau.
To her, her brother is under hunger strike because of court’s decision passed on November 12. Rzayeva has appealed to Justice Ministry, Penitentiary Service, President of Heydar Aliyev Foundation, MP Mehriban Aliyeva, Ombudsman Elmira Suleymanova and Elchin Behbudov, Head of Azerbaijan Committee against Tortures. Human Rights Defender Elchin Behbudov told APA western bureau that he contacted with Chief of detention facility Zahid Rzayev and the Chief said that prison had not health problem.
Rafig faced charges under Articles 221.4 (hooliganism), 228.4 (Illegal purchase, selling or carrying of gas weapon, cold steel, including throwing weapon, except for districts where carrying of a cold steel is an accessory of a national suit or connected to hunting) of the Criminal Code and was sentenced to four years and six months –imprisonment.
