Baku Prosecutorâ€™s Office warns Yeni Musavat newspaper

Baku-APA. Baku Prosecutorâ€™s Office made a report on Article on Rumour on terrorist act in Baku published by Yeni Musavat newspaper on September 24, Prosecutorâ€™s Office told APA
The newspaper published that terrorist act occurred near Metro station 28 May on September 23, but it was an untrue report. Baku Prosecutorâ€™s Office carried out an investigation to determine the source of information on September 24. First Deputy editor-in-chief of newspaper Azer Aykhan and correspondent Mahabbat Orujov were invited to Prosecutorâ€™s Office. They were interrogated.
â€œOfficials of the newspaper stated that they have not reliable information and they wrote news , heard from unknown persons,â€ they said.
Baku Prosecutorâ€™s Office stating that there was not any terrorist act near Metro Station 28 May and warned First Deputy editor-in-chief of newspaper officially.
They were noted that spreading of untrue report on terrorist act among people is unacceptable and it cause to holding accountable. It is determined by Article of Criminal Code on Obviously untrue report on preparing explosion, arson or other actions creating danger of destruction of people, causing significant property damage or approach of other socially dangerous consequences.
Azer Aykhan , First Deputy editor-in-chief told APA that the Prosecutorâ€™s Office investigated the source of the information.
â€œWe stated that the Article was written basing on reports among public ,â€ he said.
Aykhan added that they have not warned in written form. Aykhan noted that it was pressure against media.
â€œReaction of Prosecutorâ€™s Office to such issue should be assessed,â€ he said.
