Christian-Baptist leaderâ€™s term of pre-trial restriction prolonged

Zagatala. Hafiz Heydarovâ€“APA. Term of pre-trial restriction for Christian-Baptist leader in Zagatala Hamid Shabanov arrested for illegal storage of arms was prolonged for two months more, Shabanovâ€™s relatives told APA local bureau. The relatives said the court decided to prolong his term and to send back case to the regional Prosecutorâ€™s Office for investigation again.
Zagatala Region Prosecutorâ€™s Office told APA local bureau that Shabanovâ€™s case was returned back because he gave testimony before the court in Georgian. He demanded translator arguing that he couldnâ€™t speak in Azerbaijani.
Shabanov was arrested on July 22 in Zagatalaâ€™s Aliabad Village and police confiscated a Makaraov pistol and prohibited religious literature at his home.

He was accused on Article 228 (Illegal purchase, transfer, selling, storage, transportation and carrying of fire-arms, accessories to it, supplies, explosives) of the Criminal Code.
