Riga â€“ APA. Azerbaijani citizen attempting to cross Russia â€“ Latvia border illegally has been detained. APA reports that the person attempted to cross the border illegally for the second time. Latvian law-enforcement bodies administratively punished him in July this year, but this time he can be held accountable.

The Telegraph newspaper writes the Azerbaijani is in prison and that he attempted to cross the border to meet his wife.

The newspaper writes that the Azerbaijani citizenâ€™s act was proud and greeted it.
â€œThis act deserves respect, it can even be filmed. Just imagine, Latvian frontier-guards detain the Azeri, but he obstinately aspires to see his wife in Riga, he even risks his life. But not only frontier-guards stand between them, Schengen convention also prevents the family from uniting.
