One of the biggest stations of Baikal-Amur Mainline named after Heydar Aliyev

President of Russian Railways State Company Vladimir Yakunin, Minister of Transport of Azerbaijan Ziya Mammadov and other officials will attend the ceremony. This event related to the Heydar Aliyev’s leading role in the construction of Baikal-Amur Mainline (BAM), the Soviet-time most giant industrial project. While working as the first deputy chairman of USSR Cabinet of Ministers, Heydar Aliyev led the state commission on construction of Baikal-Amur Mainline. He made working visit to that area in 1984 to attend the BAM opening. Angoya station is situated in Zabaikalye, in 1181 km of Baikal-Amur Mainline. Many stations and settlements in BAM were built by the workers of different soviet republics. A lot of Azerbaijanis contributed to the construction of Angoya station to be named after Heydar Aliyev.
