Baku. Haji Zeynalov – APA. On Tuesday, Nasimi District Court under the chairmanship of Judge Shahin Abdullayev has issued a verdict on the criminal case of Sergei Stekalin, accused in harming of “Azadlig†newspaper’s reporter Agil Khalil on Tuesday. According to APA, Stekalin ahs been sentenced for one year and six months of imprisonment. He will be sent to the general regime jail. Agil Khalil has protested the court decision. Stekalin’s lawyer Akif Malikov has also protested the verdict and said he would appeal it.
Stekalin is accused on Article 127. 1 (deliberate causing of minor serious harm to health) and Article 234.1 (illegal purchase or storage without a purpose of selling of narcotics or psychotropic substances in a quantity (amount) exceeding necessary for personal consumption) of the Criminal Code.
