Azerbaijani Ministry of Emergency Situations saves 6 from flood water

As a result, increase of water level has made dams useless in a number of villages, caused problem to routes and destruction of electric linesâ€, Press Service of Public Department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations told APA. According to the information received, houses have seriously been damaged as a result of floods taken place in a number of villages of Ganja, Goygol, Dashkasan, Shamakhi, Khachmaz, Oguz, Guba, Siyazan, Hajigabul regions. Car marked Chevrolet and Niva owned by employee of â€œAzerkorpuâ€ Open Joint Stock Company had car accident passing through Gilgilchay Bridge in Siyezen Region. Piers of the bridge were destructed as a result of heavy rains on July 8 and cars fell into water. Employee of the Company Gilani Asgarov died at the site, other two persons were taken to Siyezen Region Hospital. Shamakhi City has also been seriously damaged as a result of floods. By the instruction of President Ilham Aliyev, officials and rescuers of the Ministry for Emergency Situations have been sent to the regions. In general, 300 people have been involved in rescue operations conducted in Guba, Khachmaz, Siyazan and Shamakhi regions. Shahriyar and Taleh Aliyevs, Gokhal Tatoglu, Umid Hakim, Mashallah Akbaba and Jamal Veliyev who were in danger of drowning, have been rescued by means of helicopter of the Ministry of Emergency Situations.
Today, Minister of Emergency Situations, Colonel General Kamaladdin Heydarov has been to the place of incident in Khachmaz and Guba regions by the instruction of President Ilham Aliyev. The Minister regularly provides detailed information to the Head of State in regard to the situation.
