40,000 football fans died of infarction watching match within past 20 years

APA reports quoting Russian media that 40,000 have died of myocardial infarction while watching the matches within the past 20 years. Victory and defeat of the national team has the same influence on cardiovascular system of people. Half of these fans died of happiness, when their national teams won. There exists a term â€œfootball infarctionâ€ in the cardiology. 230 fans died of infarction in the stadiums within the past 20 years. The recent two facts were recorded in Euro-2008. 20-year-old Austrian fan died after Austria-Germany match. A Turkish fan died after the victory of the Turkish national team over Switzerland. Doctors consider that the supposition of fansâ€™ infarction rise by three times on the day of the national teamâ€™s match. The heart rate of some fans while watching the match reaches 160 beats per minute and this is equal to the heart rate of players. But a footballerâ€™s heart rate is accompanied by rapid respiration, while the process is not the same for a fan and the risk of infarction rises. APA reports quoting â€œTvoy denâ€ newspaper that approximately 200 fans diagnosed with cardiovascular diseases were taken to various hospitals of Moscow after the Russian national team defeated the Netherlands. Doctors say that the persons diagnosed with infarction after the match are fans under 35. To reduce the risk of infarction while watching the matches of the European Championship, doctors recommend the fans to refuse smoking and having alcoholic drinks and to walk in the open air.
