Leader of Baptists arrested in Azerbaijanâ€™s Zagatala Region

Deputy chief of Zagatala Region police office Kamandar Hasanov told APAâ€™s Shaki-Zagatala bureau that Shabanov was accused of illegal keeping of weapons. The deputy chief said that the police officers searched the house of Hamid Shabanov, 52, resident of Aliabad village of Zagatala region, leader of Christian-Baptist community. 1 Nagan pistol and 37 banned books on Christianity were found in his house. The deputy chief said Shabanov had already been arrested, criminal case had been launched on Article 228 (illegal purchase, transfer, selling, storage, transportation and carrying of fire-arms) of the Criminal Code.
