Azerbaijani parliamentarian Ahad Ahmedov: â€They threaten me againâ€

There are both members of â€œMusavatâ€ and â€œPopular Frontâ€ Parties among them. One of them Rashid Suleymanov has been arrested to my complaint. I am in the province now, I will take measures to punish these people within law when I return to Bakuâ€, said Azerbaijani parliamentarian Ahad Ahmedov in his exclusive interview with APA, whilst commenting on the latest issues spread in the newspapers about him and his family. To him, the people intimidated him and his family have been arrested after his complaint about them and some media representatives launched on purpose campaign publishing misleading information against him. â€œI estimated it as interference in my private life. There is no truth in those articles and all of them reflected only lies and libelsâ€, he said. Parliament member said phone calls threatened him were also continuing. â€œThey are calling me, sending their people to me. They say if I donâ€™t recall my complaints about arrested people, they will continue blackmails in the newspapersâ€.
MP stated that he would appeal to court.
â€œI am in Imishli to participate in the funeral for a week. I will appeal to the court about these persons. Let them answer for their actions,â€ he said. MP stressed that his voters were anxious about the situation.
â€œMy father-in-law died ten years ago. But they write about complaints of my father-in-law on me. I am a parliamentarian of a big region. My voters protest such a big slander against me,â€ he said.
The founder, who introduced himself as an editor-in-chief of Azerbaijan Cumhuriyyeti newspaper, demanded $3,000 from Azerbaijani parliamentarian Ahad Ahmadov, threatening to reveal discrediting facts about him and his family. Rahimov was detained by the officers of the Department for Combat Organized Crimes under Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Internal Affairs as he had taken $1,500 from the parliamentarian. After investigation, founder of Muhakima newspaper Shamsi Mirzayev (Vafadar), MPâ€™s brother-in-lawâ€™s son Zahid Muradov, sister-in-lawâ€™s son Zabil Panahov and brother-in-law Rza Panahov were arrested. Ahmadovâ€™s brother-in-law Vahid Muradov gave information to APA about the arrest of his relatives.
