87-year-old Azeri scientist burns to death in Information Technologies Institute of Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences

â€œThe fire broke out in Baku branch of Shamakhy Astrophysics Observatory. 87-year-old academician of the observatory Hajibay Sultanov died in his study. As a result of the fire, the causes of which are unknown, the smell of various flammable substances spread around. The personnel were immediately evacuated. According to the preliminary investigation, the scientist suffocated to death,â€ he said.
Law-enforcement bodies carry out investigation, said Rasim Aliguliyev and added there were no burnout signs on him.
â€œSmell was even felt on the third floor. The working process has completely been restored. It should be taken into consideration that the academician was too old. He became unconscious. Maybe he made a mistake during his research and this caused fire,â€ he said.
Aliguliyev said no one else was injured during the accident.
