International Secretariat of Islamic Conference Youth Forum for Dialogue and Cooperation (ICYFDC) in Istanbul told it to “AzerTAc” state news agency, APA reports.
The decision was announced at the closing ceremony of the 3rd IMOIC (International Model of the Organization of the Islamic Conference) Global Summit organized by the ICYFDC and International Islamic University of Malaysia in Kuala Lumpur on July 6.
Candidates of the heads of state selected from 57 OIC member countries, participated in the nomination have been evaluated for the parameters like care for Islamic heritage, strengthening solidarity among the OIC countries, socio-economic development of their countries and activities to strengthen their international positions. President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev was the winner of the nomination.
Announcing the decision at the closing ceremony of the event, Chairman of the IMOIC Preparatory Committee and Pro-rector of International Islamic University of Malaysia Abdulaziz Bergut said that achievements made under the leadership of the President of Azerbaijan, including Azerbaijan’s election as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council, protection of the interests of the OIC countries, Baku’s hosting the founding conference of the Islamic Financial Security Network for assistance to the Palestinian state and Donors' Conference for financing the strategic plan for developing the holy city of Al-Quds on June, 2013, generally Azerbaijan’s support to the OIC activity towards the Islamic solidarity, as well as initiatives for the restoration of Shamakhi mosque that is the first mosque in the South Caucasus and pearl of Islamic civilization were also taken into account while selecting Ilham Aliyev “President of the year”.
“President of the year” award of the IMOIC will be represented to President Ilham Aliyev during the visit of the delegation of model to Azerbaijan.
