"Hraparak": Karekin II will not attend first session of new parliament for the first time

For the first time in the history of independent Armenia, Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II (Ktrij Nersisyan) will not attend the first session of the newly elected parliament, the newspaper Hraparak reported, citing a source, APA reports.

According to the report, the Armenian Church has not received an invitation to attend the session so far.

Given Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's position and his open confrontation with the Church, the authorities do not intend to send a special invitation to Karekin II.

The newspaper was unable to obtain an official comment on whether Karekin II would attend the first session of parliament.

According to the parliament's rules of procedure, the President and the Catholicos of All Armenians have the right to deliver opening remarks at the first session.

It should be recalled that Nikol Pashinyan has been in an open confrontation with the Armenian Church for about a year.
