The meeting focused on the draft state budget for 2014 and the budget of State Social Protection Fund for 2014.
MP Shamsaddin Hajiyev said that in recent years the non-oil sector of Azerbaijan significantly increased compared to the oil sector. Hajiyev noted that the transfers from the State Oil Fund of the budget have been reduced by AZN 2 billion: “This is a good indicator. The reduction will not affect budget revenues. Foreign exchange reserves of the fund will be brought up to 40 billion dollars. Most of the budget revenue next year - will amount to AZN 7,102 billion tax revenue, of which $ 4.3 billion fall to the share of non-oil sector. As you can see, the dependence of the state budget of Azerbaijan will decrease on oil.”
MP added that next year government spending will be maintained at the same level - 34.8% of GDP: “The budget deficit is provided at the level of 1.678 billion dollars, which is not a high figure. The budget for next year is real enough.”
According to him, in comparison with 2013, in 2014 the cost of the educational sphere will grow by 12%, on health care - 14%, for science - by 15%: “In this regard, in 2014, AZN 1.653 billion will be allocated to the education sector. In 2013, budget expenditure on education amounted to AZN 1.475 billion”.
