Azerbaijan to increase spending for science next year

He said it is planned to increase the social spending.

“In 2014 state budget the specific weight of social spending (salary, pension, allowances, medicines, food products) will be 26.6%, up by 1.3% compared to 2013. AZN 5 337,3m will be allocated for this purpose, it is up by AZN 298,9m or 5.9% compared to 2013,” he said.

Maharramov said AZN 3.5m will be allocated for improvement of salary system in scientific expenses, improvement of pension provision and other measures.

Chamber official said AZN 8m will be allocated for scientific, research projects carried out by the Science Development Foundation under President of Azerbaijan, AZN 5m for publication of books in Latin, AZN 3m for reconstruction of scientific institutions of Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, AZN 5m for purchase of modern laboratory devices.
