International law alone cannot stop those who choose war. If international law does not work fully, it means you don’t have influential friends or weapons, said Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy during his speech at the 80th session of the UN General Assembly, APA reports.
According to Zelenskyy, international institutions have weakened, and international organizations are incapable of ending bloody conflicts.
“No international institution can stop bloody clashes. They have always been weak. What can Sudan, Somalia, Palestine, or other nations experiencing war expect from the UN? For decades, there has been nothing but statements…” the President of Ukraine emphasized.
Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine wants peace, but Russia refuses to stop military operations.
He also noted that Syria deserves more support from the international community: “Sanctions should be lifted, and support should be given for the restoration of its economy.”
