When Joe Biden was serving as President of the United States, he told his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky that Ukraine would not become a member of NATO, APA reports.
Zelensky said this during his speech at the European Council.
“In my first dialogue with Joe Biden, I asked him whether Ukraine could join NATO, because we want this and understand that these are real security guarantees. President Biden answered me, ‘No, you will not be in NATO.’ I raised this issue several times, and some people in the White House smiled at me and reacted in different ways,” Zelensky noted.
