Presidential Office head Andriy Yermak held a phone call with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Sept. 20, ahead of an anticipated meeting between President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and U.S. President Donald Trump next week, APA reports citing Kyiv Independent.
Yermak, in a post on X, said he "discussed preparations for security guarantees for Ukraine, as well as expanding cooperation in military, defense, and economic areas," with Rubio.
The phone call comes as Zelenskyy is heading Ukraine's delegation to the UN General Assembly, which is expected to bring together leaders from nearly 150 countries over Sept. 23-29.
"I had a conversation with U.S. Secretary of State and Acting National Security Advisor to the President Rubio of the important meeting between the Presidents of Ukraine and the United States in New York.
I thanked the American side for its consistent and constructive support aimed at ending Russia’s war against Ukraine," added Andriy Yermak.
