An American delegation, including US President Donald Trump's special representative, Stephen Whitkoff, and his son-in-law, businessman Jared Kushner, is in Berlin to hold talks on a settlement to the conflict in Ukraine, APA reports, citing DPA.
According to the agency, the delegation arrived at a hotel in central Berlin on the morning of December 14. Negotiations between representatives of the United States and Ukraine will continue in Berlin with the participation of European countries. At the first stage, the talks will be held in a closed format among political advisers. Representatives of the Federal Republic of Germany will also participate in the negotiations.
Note that on December 12, the official representative of the German government, Stefan Cornelius, said that German Chancellor Friedrich Merz will hold a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Berlin on December 15 to discuss the settlement of the conflict in Ukraine. After that, several European Union and NATO leaders are expected to join the discussions. According to the Bild newspaper, negotiations are also planned in the format of the "European troika" (Germany, Great Britain, and France).
Negotiations over Ukraine intensified after Washington proposed a 28-point plan in November. Kyiv and its European partners were dissatisfied with the document and sought to significantly change it.
