Ukraine's Operational Strategic Group Skhid (East) has issued a clarification regarding the situation in Myrnohrad in Donetsk Oblast, saying that Russian troops are not present in the city and that its spokesperson Hryhorii Shapoval "misspoke during the national joint 24/7 newscast", the Operational Strategic Group Skhid (East) said in a Facebook post, APA reports.
"The enemy is not in Myrnohrad. The situation in the city and its outskirts is fully under the control of Ukraine's defence forces. The spokesperson for Operational Strategic Group Skhid misspoke during yesterday's comment on the national joint 24/7 newscast, as he was referring to the situation in Pokrovsk," the post reads.
The Ukrainian military asked that this information be taken into account in further coverage of events.
On 28 October, Shapoval said during the national joint 24/7 newscast that Russian forces on the Pokrovsk front had "broken through to the outskirts of the city of Myrnohrad, where street fighting continues".
