The trial over the fire at the “Grand Kartal” hotel, which claimed 78 lives and injured 137 people, has concluded at the Bolu 1st High Criminal Court, APA reports, citing Turkish media.
A total of 32 people were tried in the case, including the hotel owner and municipal officials — 20 of whom were in custody.
Under the court’s verdict, 11 defendants, including the hotel owner Halit Ergül, were sentenced to aggravated life imprisonment for the deaths of 34 children.
It was noted that no leniency was applied in the sentencing.
