The US administration believes that the British and French navies could participate in clearing mines in the Strait of Hormuz, announced by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio in Helsingborg, where the alliance's foreign ministers are meeting, APA reports.
"Let's say Iran decides to open the straits and says, 'OK, we're not going to shoot at people anymore.' But someone would still have to go there and clear those mines, and some of those countries have a lot of minesweepers, so they could play a key role, and I think that's where the usefulness of the mechanism that Britain and France have put in place lies," he said.
