The elections held in Georgia yesterday were conducted in accordance with the highest democratic standards. However, a parallel campaign to overthrow the government was also carried out, President Mikheil Kavelashvili said at a briefing, APA’s local bureau reports.
According to the president, any attempt to change power through violence will not succeed.
“A change of power through violence will never take place in Georgia, and the wise Georgian people will not allow it,” Kavelashvili stressed.
He expressed regret that forces acting under the instructions of foreign special services continue to operate within the country.
“The act of violence committed near the presidential residence cannot be forgiven. The other day, forces organized by foreign special services called on citizens to overthrow the government. There will be a harsh reaction to this,” the head of state added.
