A huge explosion at an industrial estate in Swindon has sent huge flames and plumes of smoke into the air over town, APA reports, citing yahoo.com.
Police say the explosion originated in one of the industrial units on the Groundwell Industrial Estate at Crompton Road.
Emergency services, including firefighters and ambulance crews, are currently working at the scene of the incident alongside officers.
Readers and witnesses have described their shock at seeing the aftermath of the incident.
Nearby homes did not have to be evacuated.
Dozens of firefighters battled the blaze throughout the night.
Locals were warned to keep their windows and doors shut for their own safety.
A spokesperson for the fire service said: “The fire is affecting one large commercial premises on the Groundwell Industrial Estate.
"Firefighters are using a water tower from the aerial ladder platform and ground monitors to extinguish the fire.
"A fire investigation officer is at the scene and an investigation into the cause will begin as soon as it is safe to do so.
"There is a smoke plume and local residents are asked to keep their windows and doors closed while the incident is ongoing."
