Pope Leo XIV is on a visit to Türkiye, APA’s local bureau reports.
Pope’s plane has landed in Ankara.
He will first visit Anıtkabir, after which he will be officially received by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
As part of the visit, various meetings and religious ceremonies are planned in Istanbul.
Pope Leo will also meet with Patriarch Bartholomew. They will sign a joint declaration and participate in events in İznik dedicated to the 1700th anniversary of the First Council of Nicaea.
The visit will also include meetings focused on ecumenical dialogue, religious tolerance, and peace and cooperation in the region.
