A meeting was held between Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on the sidelines of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly, APA's local bureau reports, citing the press service of the Georgian government.
During the meeting, the high level of strategic partnership between Georgia and Türkiye was emphasized, along with the successful development of cooperation in various fields.
The parties paid particular attention to the positive dynamics in the development of political and economic relations, noting that Türkiye remains Georgia's largest trading partner.
The meeting also addressed joint strategic projects of regional importance that make a significant contribution to the region's development and the strengthening of connectivity. In this context, the importance of the fully operational Baku–Tbilisi–Kars (BTK) railway line was particularly emphasized.
The discussions also touched upon cooperation in the transport and energy sectors. The parties noted the particular importance of peace in ensuring the sustainable and stable development of the region.
