Norwegian Foreign Minister Espen Bart Eide announced the government's decision to allocate another $500 million to the PURL program, which provides for the financing of American-made weapons for the Ukrainian Armed Forces, APA reports, citing European Pravda.

The minister made this statement on the eve of the NATO meeting.

According to this statement, Norway, which has already become one of the leading countries in financing Ukraine's needs, is ready to cover half of the total financing planned in December alone.

"Today, Norway announces that it has allocated an additional $500 million to the PURL program. This amount will be presented in two packages: one with Germany and Poland, and the other jointly with Germany and the Netherlands," Espen Bart Eide said.

Bart Eide explained the sharp increase in funding for the PURL program by the importance of strengthening support for Ukraine during the current "peace talks": "Now is the time to sharply increase support for Ukraine so that the Ukrainians can conduct negotiations from a position of strength."
