The Deputy Secretary General of NATO, Radmila Shekerinska, stated in an interview that by the end of the year Ukraine will receive, through the rapid assistance mechanism, PURL, military equipment from U.S. stockpiles worth about $5 billion. It concerns air defense systems, munitions, and critical spare parts, APA reports, citing mezha.net.
"The lion’s share of air defense assets is arriving in Ukraine precisely through PURL – it’s literally the difference between life and death," said Radmila Shekerinska.
According to her, logistics operate around the clock through hubs in Poland and Romania, and funding for the packages is provided by European allies and Canada. Australia and New Zealand have also joined the initiative.
Shekerinska added that despite significant deliveries, Ukraine always needs more air defense, and NATO member states’ defense industries are increasing production to cover this deficit.
