The European Union countries have agreed to restrict the travel of Russian diplomats within the bloc, APA reports, citing The Financial Times.
It is reported that this step is a response to the increase in sabotage attempts by spies, often operating under diplomatic cover, according to European intelligence.
Thus, Russian diplomats working in the capitals of EU countries will be obliged to inform the authorities of other countries they will visit about their travel plans before traveling.
The publication's sources say that Hungary, which previously opposed this measure, has finally withdrawn its veto.
According to reports, the initiative is being put forward by the Czech Republic. This decision may be part of a new package of sanctions being prepared in response to Russia's full-scale aggression against Ukraine.
