The European Union's (EU) dual approach to Georgia is shameful,  Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze said in a statement to journalists, APA's local bureau reports.

According to him, the European bureaucracy is already directly demanding that we join sanctions against Russia.

"In 2022, we made a simple calculation and saw that joining sanctions could lead to at least a 10 percent decline in the economy. Therefore, we made a decision that is in line with our national interests," Kobakhidze added.

The Prime Minister also recalled that the European bureaucracy did not make such demands to Moldova, Armenia, or any other country:

"Double standards are observed here, too. Prime ministers of certain countries can fly to Moscow from Europe. We do not object to this; this is the business of the respective countries. What is acceptable in one case may cause a sharp negative reaction in another."
