According to the report, this step is taken as part of the strategy to transform the Bundeswehr into the most powerful armed force in Europe.
Speaking at a meeting with citizens, Chancellor Friedrich Merz confirmed his promise to make the German army the most powerful in Europe.
"The world around us has changed completely. I want my children, grandchildren and their descendants to be able to continue living in freedom and peace, and for this we must be able to protect ourselves," Merz said.
