"Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze is participating in the forum in Ashgabat at the invitation of the President of Turkmenistan. The host side itself determines the forum participants," Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili, said in response to a question about why Kobakhidze did not avoid appearing in a joint photograph at the forum that also included Russian President Vladimir Putin, APA’s local bureau reports.

He stated that the Georgian government acts solely in accordance with the interests of the Georgian people.

“We are ready for dialogue with any party that is prepared to respect the national interests of our people. The interests consist of unifying Georgia and enhancing the welfare of the Georgian people. Due to the occupation, Georgia does not conduct dialogue with Russia,” Papuashvili added.

Regarding journalists’ questions about whether a conversation between Kobakhidze and Putin would take place, Papuashvili said that no meeting between them is planned.
