We are somewhat concerned about the non-removal of sanctions and the US silence regarding Georgia, said Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze in an interview with TRT World TV channel, APA's local bureau reports.
He said that the Georgian side is still optimistic.
"Our proposal to restore the strategic partnership with the US is on the table. We will patiently wait for their response," Kobakhidze added.
According to the Prime Minister, the previous US administration was extremely aggressive towards the Georgian people and the Georgian government:
"The Biden administration made the decision to suspend the strategic partnership with Georgia after Trump's election, shortly before the inauguration. We are interested in restoring the strategic partnership with the US and are waiting for their position on this issue."
It should be noted that the US suspended the strategic partnership with Georgia on November 30, 2024. This decision was made after the Georgian government announced on November 28 last year that it would not bring negotiations on membership in the European Union to the agenda until 2028.
