According to surveys, “Georgian Dream” is expected to win all 64 municipalities in the local elections by a large margin, the party’s leader and Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Kobakhidze, told journalists, APA’s local bureau reports.
He noted that opposition parties are not releasing the results of pre-election surveys conducted on their behalf because they do not want to admit defeat.
“Our party’s result will exceed 60 percent nationwide. In Tbilisi, our result is approximately 55 percent, while Kakha Kaladze’s rating exceeds 65 percent,” Kobakhidze emphasized.
The Prime Minister also warned radical groups against attempts at provocations on election day. He stressed that demonstrations must be peaceful and that any violations of the law will be met with an immediate and strict response.
Note that local elections in Georgia are scheduled for October 4. The State Security Service of Georgia has reported that provocations are being planned in the country on voting day.
