Georgian and Uzbek Foreign Ministers discuss Middle Corridor

Georgian Foreign Minister Maka Bochorishvili met with his Uzbek counterpart Bakhtiyar Saidov in Samarkand, APA's local bureau reports, citing the Georgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA).

The meeting discussed issues of bilateral and multilateral cooperation between Georgia and Uzbekistan, and emphasized the dynamics of mutual visits.

The Foreign Ministers also discussed Georgia's important role in terms of connectivity between Europe and Asia and the prospects for the development of the Middle Corridor. The increase in trade turnover between Georgia and Uzbekistan in recent years, as well as the number of Uzbek tourists visiting Georgia, was noted with satisfaction.

During the discussions, the parties also considered issues related to security and challenges in the region and the world. The ministers stressed the importance of joint efforts in this direction.

Note that M. Bochorishvili is on a visit to Uzbekistan to participate in the 43rd General Conference of UNESCO to be held in Samarkand.
