Municipal elections have begun in Georgia, APA 's local bureau reports.
The voting process began at 08:00 in 3,061 polling stations across the country.
In the elections, in which 12 political parties participate, mayors and 2,085 municipal members will be elected for the next four years in 64 cities and regions, including Tbilisi.
Voting will be held electronically in 2,284 polling stations and traditionally in 777. The total number of voters is 3,513,818, of which 3,130,348 will vote using electronic equipment.
The process will be monitored by 28 international and 27 local observation organizations, and covered by nearly a thousand representatives representing 73 local and foreign media outlets.
Polls will close at 8:00 p.m. and vote counting will begin. Preliminary results are expected to be announced a few hours after voting closes.
It should be noted that the last local elections in Georgia were held on October 2, 2021. The ruling Georgian Dream party won the elections with 46.69% of the vote. On October 30, a second round was held in 5 major cities and 15 municipalities, including Tbilisi.
