The lower house of the French Parliament - the Committee on European Affairs of the National Assembly - has adopted a critical resolution on Georgia, APA's local bureau reports.
The document notes that the political situation in Georgia in recent months has caused concern.
The resolution calls on the French authorities to impose individual sanctions on the founder and honorary chairman of the ruling "Georgian Dream" party, Bidzina Ivanishvili, and his close circle, and demands the release of all "political prisoners" imprisoned in Georgia.
"France and the European Union must take decisive steps to support democratic principles and the European integration efforts of a significant part of Georgian society," the document says.
The resolution has been submitted to the Committee on European Affairs of the National Assembly for consideration. Final discussions on the document are expected to be held on December 17.
