France is not participating in the PURL initiative, which envisages the purchase of US-made weapons for Ukraine, said Alice Rufo, French Minister Delegate to the Minister of the Armed Forces and Veterans Affairs, APA reports, citing Ukrinform.
The minister said that France is providing assistance to Ukraine in various areas, but is not directly participating in the PURL program. However, Paris supports other European partners joining this initiative.
“We want everyone to know that at a certain point we must make decisions independently and develop European systems. That is why we are preparing for the next steps,” Rufo emphasized.
It should be noted that according to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, a total of 24 countries have already joined the PURL initiative, under which states purchase weapons from the United States for Ukraine.
