The Prosecutor General’s Office of Georgia has charged five members of the organizing committee of the protest held in Tbilisi on October 4 — representatives of the United National Movement Party, Irakli Nadiradze and Murtaz Zodelava, Colonel Lasha Beridze, Secretary General of the “Agmashenebeli Strategy” party, Paata Manjgaladze, and leader of the “Rustaveli Avenue” movement, Paata Burchuladze, APA's local bureau reports.

They are accused of calling for the violent overthrow of the constitutional order or the change of state power in Georgia, as well as organizing, leading, and participating in group violence.

These criminal acts carry a penalty of up to 9 years in prison.

The Prosecutor General’s Office will apply to the court within the legal timeframe to request pretrial detention for these individuals.

Note that the participants of the rally, the purpose of which was to peacefully overthrow the government, attacked the Presidential Palace. As a result of the clashes, 6 protesters and dozens of police officers were injured.
