European Council president Antonio Costa has told EU leaders they must “accelerate and deepen” their efforts against Russia following Moscow’s violation of Poland’s airspace, APA reports, citing INDEPENDENT.
Polish forces shot down a number of Russian drones that they said entered their airspace last week, for the first time since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in 2022.
Mr Costa said he would host leaders in Copenhagen in October to discuss how to strengthen their response to Moscow.
“Russia’s recent airspace violations in Poland and Romania are a stark reminder that we must accelerate and deepen our efforts,” he wrote.
“Our security is tied to Ukraine’s security. In Copenhagen, I would also like to discuss how to further support Ukraine and reach a just and lasting peace.”
