The details of Pope Leo XIV's visit to Türkiye, which will take place on November 27-30, have been announced, APA's Türkiye bureau reports.
The Pope will participate in various meetings and religious ceremonies in the cities of Ankara, Istanbul and Iznik.
On the first day of the visit, on November 27, he will meet with President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Ankara, followed by meetings with civil society representatives and the diplomatic corps.
After completing his program in Ankara, he will head to Istanbul. Here, he will meet with clergy at the Holy Spirit Cathedral and visit a nursing home. Then, he will travel to Iznik by helicopter.
Pope Leo XIV will attend a prayer ceremony at the excavation site of the Basilica of Saint Neophyte in Iznik. After that, he will return to Istanbul to hold meetings, visit the Sultanahmet Mosque, meet with Christian community leaders at the Mor Efrem Syriac Orthodox Church and sign a joint statement with Fener Greek Patriarch Bartholomew.
On the last day of the visit, Pope Leo XIV will participate in mass.
