Sweden needs long-range missiles with a range of up to 2,000 km to deter Russia, Reuters quoted Swedish Defense Minister Pal Jonson as saying, APA reports.

According to him, Russia is rapidly increasing its capabilities in long-range cruise and ballistic missiles, as well as large-radius UAVs.

According to the agency, the Swedish Air Force has already ordered Swedish-German Taurus cruise missiles with a range of about 500 km for its Gripen fighters.

The minister noted that the Swedish army must have the ability to strike military facilities and critical infrastructure deep behind enemy lines. He also stressed the need to strengthen the country's air defense systems, UAVs and reconnaissance satellites.
