The Czech army, which is being formed on a professional basis, plans to recruit 2,250 contract soldiers in 2026, APA reports, citing Irojlas news portal.
According to the information, the need to increase the number of personnel in the armed forces is related to threats to European security after February 24, 2022.
At the beginning of 2025, approximately 24,500 servicemen served in the armed forces. Another 3,500 servicemen were assigned to structural units of the Czech Army.
According to the report, the ideal option would be to increase its total number to 37,500.
