An investigation is underway into a possible ethnically motivated crime involving Manana Giorgobiani, who is accused of organizing and leading a group attack against two young Azerbaijanis working at a supermarket in Tbilisi, said prosecutor Giorgi Dolakidze, APA’s local bureau reports.
According to him, evidence is being collected and the case will be given appropriate legal assessment.
“It is not excluded that the charges against Giorgobiani may be aggravated,” the prosecutor added.
Dolakidze noted that Giorgobiani has refused to cooperate with the investigation or testify and has been assigned a psychiatric examination.
It should be noted that the Tbilisi City Court today decided to remand Giorgobiani in custody. Video footage of the incident shows her using ethnically offensive language against the Azerbaijani employees.
In addition to Giorgobiani, five other individuals have been detained in connection with the case. The court has also ordered their detention. If found guilty, they face up to nine years in prison.

A preventive detention measure has been chosen against Manana Giorgobiani, who is accused of organizing and leading group violence against two Azerbaijani youths working at a supermarket in Tbilisi, APA's local bureau reports, citing Tbilisi City Court.
According to her lawyer, a psychological and psychiatric examination has been ordered for Giorgobiani. After her detention, she was taken to a psychiatric institution and from there to the court.
The defense requested that Giorgobiani be remanded in custody in the amount of 5,000 GEL.
According to the Prosecutor General's Office of Georgia, Giorgobiani demanded money from the store employees and, after receiving a refusal, behaved aggressively. She insulted the supermarket employees, physically assaulted one of them and threatened to kill both of them. After leaving the store, she organized a group of violence.
Five other people detained in connection with the incident are accused of participating in group violence. Two Kalashnikov assault rifles and 110 cartridges, which were illegally obtained and stored in the basement of one of them, were seized. The trial of these individuals will also be held today. The criminal act is punishable by up to 9 years in prison.
Note that the incident took place on the night of November 2. The victims of the violence, aged 19 and 21, are from the Dmanisi and Garachop regions.

Another person accused of committing gang violence against two Azerbaijani youths working in a supermarket in Tbilisi, a person named Sh.A., born in 1997, has been detained, APA's local bureau reports, citing Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs.
According to the information, all the perpetrators of the crime have been identified and detained as accused. The crime is punishable by imprisonment for a term of up to 9 years.
The investigation into the fact is ongoing.
It should be noted that the incident occurred at night on November 2. Manana Giorgobiani, who was accused of organizing and participating in gang violence against our compatriots born in 2006 and 2004, was detained on November 5, and the other 4 people were detained the day before.
The Prosecutor General's Office of Georgia has filed formal charges against Manana Giorgobiani and will petition the court to impose a preventive measure of arrest on her.
