"Russian Central Bank’s money, the immobilized assets, not frozen assets, are mostly located in Belgium. You cannot simply take someone else’s money. We are not at war with Russia. Europe is not at war with Russia," said Belgian Prime Minister Bart De Wever during a panel discussion at the World Economic Forum in Davos, APA reports.
"You cannot simply confiscate money; that is an act of war, and it should not be underestimated. It has never happened in history. Even during the Second World War, immobilized assets were never confiscated. Doing so now would be the first time in history, and it would have serious consequences," PM added.
