The Media Development Agency of Azerbaijan and the Azerbaijan Press Council have issued condolences over the death of Turkish TRT channel journalist Yahya Barzak in the Gaza Strip, APA reports.
According to the Azerbaijan Press Council, the death of Yahya Barzak is a great tragedy:
"The incident once again highlights the dangerous realities of journalism and brings to the forefront the issue of media operating under extreme conditions, which is often discussed. The tragedies faced by journalists in war and conflict zones also appear as a challenge to freedom of speech and the public’s right to information. Unfortunately, the international community is often powerless in the face of such negative trends. Yahya Barzak has become the latest victim of this helplessness. Azerbaijani journalism, in its modern independent era, has also had its share of victims in two wars."
Members of the Press Council’s Board expressed deep sorrow over Barzak’s death in Gaza and wished for a world free from wars, conflicts, and journalist fatalities. They extended condolences to TRT and the media of the brotherly country, sharing the grief of the journalist’s colleagues and loved ones, and wished them patience and resilience.
"May Allah have mercy on him," they added.
At the same time, the Media Development Agency (MEDİA) posted on its official account:
"The Media Development Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan expresses deep condolences to the Turkish public, the TRT family, and the relatives of journalist Yahya Barzak, who lost his life while fulfilling his professional duties in Gaza. May Allah have mercy on him!"
