International Monetary Fund forces Ukraine to raise gas price for local consumers

Baku – APA. Ukraine will raise the price of gas for local consumers by 50 percent from August 1, 2010. The gas price in Ukraine was raised by 35 percent on December 1, 2008 last time, APA reports. Ukraine passed this decision upon demand of the International Monetary Fund, which agreed to loan $16.5 billion to Ukraine in 2008. $10.5 billion of these resources were transferred to the state budget in the past two years. The government of Ukraine and IMF reached an agreement about the new $14.9-billion loan package.
