Oil is not only used for energy, but various plastic products, including medical products, are used, said Haitham Al Ghais, Secretary General of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries at the opening ceremony of the 29th International Caspian Oil & Gas Exhibition - Caspian Oil & Gas and the 12th Caspian International Power and Green Energy Exhibition - Caspian Power as part of the Baku Energy Week, APA reports.
The Secretary General underlined that he congratulates the UAE for the success achieved in COP28 and believes that COP29 will be successful as well: "We highly value the progressive approach of Azerbaijan and President Ilham Aliyev in this direction. Billions of people still lack energy. Many people have not yet visited a country other than the one they live in."
He emphasized that Azerbaijan also attaches great importance to the production of renewable energy:"We welcome Azerbaijan's ambitious plan. Plans related to the use of solar, wind, including offshore wind energy are ambitious plans. We must choose a fair path in the energy future. I am sure that Azerbaijan understands the importance of all this very well. Especially Baku, Azerbaijan has signed many firsts in the field of energy. Azerbaijan knows the price of oil and its contributions to the world so far."
