Natiq Aliyev: â€˜Azerbaijan will play an important role in provision of Europeâ€™s energy security for more decadesâ€™

Baku. Ali Ahmadov â€“ APA-Economics. Currently, there are 2 main obstacles in realization of Southern Corridor, considered for provision of Eastern Europe with natural gas. One of them is absence of Trans Caspian pipe and the second â€“ absence of intergovernmental agreement on it, Minister of Industry and Energy Natig Aliyev said, APA reports.

To him, at present, Azerbaijani government and the EU are working on solution of this issue. The minister noted that besides meeting its own demand for energy, Azerbaijan would play an important role in provision of Europeâ€™s energy security for more decades.

Moreover, the minister added that despite the increasing interest to alternative energy sources in the world, especially in Europe and growing volume of energy, the demand for energy will be ensured by oil-gas for many years. Aliyev said the UN forecasts show that share of oil-gas sector in worldâ€™s energy balance would be more than 60% in 2035.
